Traineeships generally take between twelve to twenty four months to complete. Apprenticeships generally last between thirty six to forty eight months.
Either while you are still at secondary school (either Year 10 or 11 depending on State government guidelines) as an Australian School-based Apprentice or at any employable age after you leave school.

You can either approach a company to employ you directly as an apprentice or trainee, or a Group Training Organisation could employ you and place you with a suitable host employer. This is the Australian School-based Apprenticeships program. It’s also called school-based traineeships.
You can be employed by a Group Training Organisation and placed with a suitable host employer as an apprentice or trainee. The Group Training Organisation pays you, trains you and oversees your placement in industry.
You can be employed directly by a company as an apprentice or trainee. Your employer pays you and organises your training. We help your employer with the required paperwork and processes. This is through our MEGT Australian Apprenticeships Centre.
